The Heavy-Duty XXL is a heavy duty wheelchair for users up to 150 kg. Its seat is 56 cm (22 inches) wide, which is about 10 cm wider than a standard wheelchair seat, and the steel frame has a double cross-brace for strength. The chair weighs 20 kg and folds for storage.

How this heavy duty wheelchair works

The frame has two cross-braces under the seat instead of one, so it stays rigid under a heavier user. The 24-inch rear tyres are solid, so they never need pumping, and the 8-inch front castors are reinforced.

The rear wheels have push rims, so the user can push themselves, and a carer can push from behind as well. The footrests swing away for getting in and out, and their height adjusts to suit the user’s legs. The armrests are full-length and padded.
